High Gain Wimax Antennas for "Weak Signal" Areas

Globe Telecoms released what it calls "Gems Map" late year 2011 to address weak signal problems in the country. This Map limited the availability of Wimax Broadband Internet from the original 5 KM radius to 1-2 Kilometer radius from the Node.

This move had a profound impact in terms of sales for us due to a reduced coverage area. Originally covered areas can no longer apply for a Wimax Broadband Internet due to a limitation imposed by Globe Telecom itself.

This problem could have been addressed a long time ago, and the need for a "Gems Map" could have been avoided provided high gain antennas were considered in areas where signal strenght  have diminished over distance instead of the standard 2.5 Ghz 14dbi antenna that comes with every Wimax CPE. Here are several candidate antennas that fits for this purpose.

ARRONNA - ARP-2458 17/20

This Antenna is 3-5 dBi higher than the standard Globe Wimax Antenna. This is highly suggested for areas within the 2.5 Kilometer Radius from the Node.

These antennas are costly for Globe Telecoms to roll-out. However, high quality service demands specialized equipment.

Wimax users with poor RSSI, CINR and Signal Strength might consider upgrading their antenna with a higher dBi rating like the ARRONNA - ARP-2458 17/20 with only a few bucks mark up compared to the standard 14dBi provided by Globe Telecom . An exceptionally good antenna is truly needed in remote areas where Internet connectivity is of high importance.
